Thread: Nakayama Mizu Asagi Kan - Finisher/Polisher

Stone is Nakayama Mizu Asagi Kan,not Ozuku.
First off I have to say that I love this stone. It does two things really well, finish and polish. As far as I am concerned razors can not get anymore ready for shaving than coming off this stone. Followed of coarse by your favorite stropping routine. This stone should only be used by folks who have a well established knowledge and experience with using this type of stone. It has a couple of well stabilized cracks on the surface. Yes you can make passes over the cracks but at a predetermined and known pressure. X strokes your usually away from the cracks so it is easier to use that way. I have been using this stone regularly for the last 6 months and have not had any bias checks/chips in the stone. This stone is not a bevel setter but comes alive at or after the Norton 8k range. The hardness of this stone varies from the middle circle of the stone, very diamond like hard then spreading away from the circle to just very hard. Once you understand this stone it will quickly become a favorite because of what it can do and the potential issues with the cracks disappear. This stone is sealed. This stone wears very slowly, parts of stamps are still visible after 6 months of intermittent use.
I am including two slurry stones, the orangish(suita) color is used for finishing a razor and the light green Thuringian is used for polishing. This stone is compatible with all types of Nagura and slurry stones. I suggest that you not use DMT on this stone to create slurry. I used what I could to maintain a mirror finish on this stone at all times. We can discuss that.
