Default Shobudani Honoyama Asagi Awasedo ( Razor Size) Travel Stone

I bought this stone long time ago from Japan-Tool it was my Travel Stone for years and is not easy for me to part with this hone. Very similar to my another Shobudani whetstone listed earlier however this one is one notch finer and is better finisher. The abrasive slurry has a moderate viscosity and slides well, according to their testing the stone is:

    Fineness: 5/5+
    Hardness: 4/5
    Speed: 5/5
    Feel: 5/5

    Maximum size 157mm * 56mm * 21mm

    Weight
    446g

It is hard Shobudani Asagi . You will need Tomo Nagura or diamond plate to produces slurry, at same time it is very fine stone (Lv 5.0+) you can use it with just water and will glide very smooth and don't scratch the blade. You can finish you razor with just water and light strokes or with soup/glycerin whatever you prefer and your razor will cut just like butter. This stone is capable to produce baby butt smooth shave time after time. This is very old stone from the old good rock and you can't go wrong with this one , since they don't scratch .If you cant have good edge with this one it means is something wrong with you. lol . It is the size of ( a bit bigger) famous Escher Barber Delight that goes in this days for about $1000.00 just this one is much better finishing stone . It is also excellent tomo nagura stone that you can use with any other finisher to raise slurry , just keep in mind that to find very good slurry stone is much more difficult than to find finisher stone. Most of the tomo naguras on the market today are good for nothing , they are just left overs from lesser quality stones. Asking $525.00 or $500.00 plus shipping , come with nice box. I am selling all my stones due my health issues. All my stones were carefully selected and are excellent quality stones. Thanks for watching.

This is from Japan-Tool about Shobudani :

Shoubudani and Nakayama stones were patronized by the Imperial household, for its superior quality used for polishing swords. These stones have never been traded among the commonality between Kamakura period(1185~1333) to mid Muromachi period (1336~1573). It was at the end of Muromachi when these stones appered within the general market, although the better stones were still monopolised by the royalities, the stones with lines and odd shapes were used by the craftsmen and carpenters, and this contributed to the drastic improvement in quality of their works.

If you are familiar with Japanese natural finishing stones, I suppose you have heard of the name Hon-yama. The name Hon-yama is used by any finishing stones nowadays so it mearly means "finishing stone" now, but this name originally was the nick name for Shoubudani mountain. Nakayama is also one of the quarry from this mountian. Honma Tou-zaemon Toki-nari has been appointed as the leader of mining by the famous Shogun of Kamakura period Minamotono Yoritomo in 1190. Thus the mountain was called Honma's mountain = Hon-yama. "Yama" means mountain. Shoubu-dani and Nakayama stones are the only genuine Hon-yama stone.
