    OK, I will give it another go. I was using the 10 strokes as that is what Lynn Abrams mentioned. Thank you again.

    10 strokes at a time is a good safe approach & may be all that's needed if all prior steps were perfect. ie minimalist but effective.
    If you can identically reproduce 10 of Lynn's strokes you're well on your way to success.

    i have a naniwa 12k and a dmt 325 coming tomorrow from srd and wonder if i can use a steel burnisher to knock off the high spots. it's not plated like a screwdriver shank. it's used for, and i'm sure some of you know this, raising a burr on a metal scraper for wood finishing. i don't feel like getting all involved with knives, plane irons and/or chisels. just tune the dmt, lap the 12k, hone a razor and shave.
