Thanked: 1what did I do, please help!?
I was lapping my new Naniwa 12k and my Norton 4 and 8K stones, in my 4 and 8 Nortons, I have these fine scratches. What did I do?! Did I ruin them? How did this happen? I used the DMT 325 on the Naniwa and first a Norton lapping stone and then the 325 on the Norton, what did I do wrong, please help!

First, nothing has been ruined. You have a lot of stone with each. It is a bit hard to see exactly what the problem is with your picture of what you think is damage. Was your DMT brand new?

Thanked: 3228Yea, know the feeling happened to me too using a brand new DMT 325 on my new Naniwa hones. I had to use the shank of a big screw driver on the DMT with water running on it and some dish soap for lube. Racked the shank of the screw driver back and forth on the DMT to knock off any high diamonds. Took a bit but it worked and the DMT now leaves the hones smooth. The screw driver trick is on here if you search for it, that is where I found out about it. My guess is that you have some high spots that need taking care of.

Thanked: 2027Forget the screwdriver, most are cad or chrome plated and IMO you will contaminate the DMT.
Sharpen some kitchin knives, some chisles, work the entire plate over with carbon steel items
Than first and formost.lap under RUNNing water.you have to wash out the slurry constantly.
