Thread: Just picked up this Hone and would really appreciate any info on it?

I was hoping to get some information on this hone? The hone itself slides into a leather case and has a metal hook that pulls out which I am guessing is to make it easier to hold while using it? the hone is labeled, "Regimental" Howard Strop Co. Boston Mass, U.S.A.

That looks like a strop more than a hone! Is the surface leather or hard stone? Double O

My mistake you are correct, it is a strop! Its leather, and shows lots of wear. Have you ever seen these strops before?
