Default Any idea what this hone is?

I know it shard to say from pictures, I have NOT lapped it yet as I have just ordered a 8"DMT plate so im waiting for that to arrive. the dimensions are 15cm x 3cm x 1.5cm.
In natural light the stone kinda has a green cast to it. which does not really show up well in the photo, to the touch it does feel very smooth, as smooth as my coticle, but as always I'd get a better idea with a razor on it. thanks in advance for any replies.

Looks like thuringian, better pics of the cleaned stone with and without slurry will help better guess.

+1 on that, looks like a Thuringian to me as well.

They're good stones, and work well with and without slurry. I like to start with a light slurry and then dilute down to plain water on these.

Nice stone, the green Thuringians are often a bit finer and faster than the grey ones. You can lap it using sanding paper, shouldn't take long because it's a soft stone.

Nice vintage stone. I like the box too. I would like to get a german hone one of these days.
    +1 on what Piet said.
You can find a thick piece of glass and put some wet/dry paper on it. Around 320 grit i'd say.
Spray a little amount of water between the paper and glass and on the paper after that.
Then you can do "8" motions to flat it out.
I use a small credit card size diamond plate to round the edge but you can do it on the glass too.

I like this technique because you dont have to do it under running water.

Then again im just a beginner.

Keep us posted and take pics if you can!

I was hoping it was a thuringian, so im kinda quite happy, I have wet and dry sand paper, but Im gonna wait for the 8" DMT to arrive as Ive spent the cash on it so I might as well use it. its coming from USA (As it was cheaper, lol) so maybe I get it this week, or early next week, when I do I will update this post with some pics

Just remember to 'break in' the DMT so it's not too aggressive on the hone.
Congrats on a nice score - I've got two Thuringians and I'm just starting to learn them now - wonderful edges
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

It is a Thuringian waterwhetstone, distributed by the company "Deutsche Schleifmaterialien Gesellschaft" located in Steinach/Germany.

Nooo, it's crap... good as a door stop... now I happen to need a door stop in just that color!
No seriously, nice find, I hope it's as good as the ones I've got here.
You might want a rubbing stone for it, depending on how hard it is.
