Combo Coticule, or coticule on slate?
I was looking at getting a coticule, and was looking at a vintage one. I wanted another pair of eyes to look at it. not sure if its coticule on slate or if its a combo stone, i don't see a glue line so I'm thinking combo
Coticule side seems a little thin compared to some of the modern ones Ive looked at. but grain texture looks nice and creamy.

I saw that one too. Looks nice. Imo it's a combo. Looks like a nice one. Hopefully you get it for a nice price.

A nice Stone, really looks like a natural Combo as there are no Signs of glue by looking at the border of the two layers, ver nice!

Looks like a combo.
It has a good layer of Coti on it. I saw quite a few come out of the quarry with about that much Coti on it. Once it's lapped, your good to go, really. Just use a slurry stone when honing.Last edited by zib; 10-13-2013 at 11:44 PM.

Hopefully, i know the bidding went up 40 dollars the first 2 bids, so we'll see how committed the other are, i wont spend more then what i can get a a couple moderns on slate though, i know you can get bluestone pretty cheap in that size, and a smaller coti would be ok.

Fendrihan has combo coticules as well as cotis on slate, just as a plan B
