Alright did a prelim test using a needle at a 45deg angle over the lines on hone. Soo smooth. And since you've all been so helpful here's some hone porn for ya

An update. I've run a razor over it and so far have only achieved about 7k out of it although this is my first try at a coticule and as usual yrmv(your rock may vary) so will do some research to find the best ways to get the most from it.

It may be 7K level, you never know until you practice more with it.
I've owned coticules that vary from 4K-10K and usually they're 6-8K. I like the old deep rock and old rock ones, they are usually fine enough.
I own one now that is so rough it destroys an edge on a razor and feels/sounds like sandpaper.

If you find it is 7K then you can always use it as an intermittent stone in your progression.

So an update. Have honed the razor again. Cant get it to pass the hht and only ok on the aht but good on the tpt and very nice on the only test that matters. The shave was smooth and nice and clean and Im happy with it but will keep playing to try tease some more out though. Cheers for your help Ed
