Thanked: 8Recent buy
I recently bought this hone and would like to have an experts opinion to whether it is a coticule; and if so what type please ?
The lines are not cracks but appear to be some other material in the stone !
Any comments welcomed

Thanked: 4249Definately a natural combo coticule, as to what type no clue!
The lines are manganese i think and should not affect the stone at all.Last edited by Martin103; 10-30-2013 at 01:55 PM.

You made a very nice find there. Coticules have a substantial following who swear by them. Enjoy the learning process. There are plenty of articles on proper use.

Thanked: 202Nice combo. I do not think that those lines are manganese they are in my opinion more cracks/fissures which would not give you too much bother. Test it and you should see straight away.

yes, those are small cracks. Manganese is usually black.

Thanked: 8Many thanks Guys, you experts are probably correct about them being cracks ; but it does not appear to affect the overall smoothness when being used !
In fact I cannot even feel them with a nail, so still very happy.
Just got to learn to use it properly !!

Thanked: 8Just finished honing two razors and found the coticule great, really popping hairs before finishing on a Charnley.
Very, very pleased as this is the first time honing to shave ready !
