That is a Coticule and could well be a good hone for razors. Do a search for the word and you can decide if it worth the price.
Have fun scrounging!

Thanked: 1I have yet to see the hone in person. I called a bunch of local antique stores asking if they had an antique shaving stuff. The gal at this shop said she had this and some straights. She didn't say how much $ nor what straights she had. I am heading that way after lunch. I am having a hard time finding a good price point for these hones. I saw one other post on SRP about a guy picked up 2 very similar on Ebay, just no price was stated.
I'll go check it out and post a couple more pics.

IF...it is actually a 'Pike' brand coticule then it is a Really Good grade of coticule. I have an 'Extra Fine' grade boxed Pike coticule that I bought back in the 70's and is it one of my best. They (the Pike brand) are also in my experience kind of rare....I think that is the first pic I've ever seen posted here on SRP or other forums. Or EBAY for that matter!
As Geezer says...if the price is worth it to you based on condition etc. then you probably can't go wrong with that stone.
