The Naniwa 12,000 is definitely a softer stone, and i agree with Lynn, it gives great feed back. I like the stone.
A man should only look in the mirror when he shaves.

Thanked: 15I've recently started myself using the Naniwa 12k as my finisher. Seems to give a good edge, I don't really have anything to compare it to though as I have been honing for all of about a week now. On a good note, it seems to be forgiving, well, either that or I'm just naturally amazing... I'd lean towards forgiving though.

You, sir, are not good for my ego
I use the nani 8 and 12 for maintenance. After reading many threads and watching many videos, I felt I was as good a honemeister as any on the board.
Although I know that not to be true, the nanis are treating me (and my ego) well.
