I left out finishing on a couple more naturals, Welsh Slate and a Blue Escher. Right now I can get a pretty comfortable shave off of any of the progressions I am using. My favorite finishing stone is the Escher.

After reading, I'll stick with my Belgian Coticule, Dovo green, red and CrOx pasted balsa boards...been working for me for a while, and I don't need yet another excuse to spend money...trying to keep my spending only on a couple of types of blade now, otherwise I'll end up with a rotation where I only use each blade 3 x a year!!!

+1 on what Bob said. Back when the zulu was the latest thing, the consensus seemed to be that it was pretty much the equivalent of the 12K Nani but smoother or more "buttery". Mine now has an almost mirror finish to it and seems to be effectively finer. BTW, I'd suggest that you shave a couple of times off the zulu without using the 0.5 spray (after normal stropping, of course) else you may lose the smoothness that the stone delivers. Then try it with the spray and compare.

You are right, we don't need an excuse.
