Thanked: 1936Who cares about the HHT, how is the shave off your 8K? Until you have that down, another stone will not help you.
I will NOT recommend a Chinese finisher as they are all over the place, quite a few come in under 8K in regards to "grit". You never know what you have until you have it in your hands & have paid for it. Your safest bet is a synthetic stone & the best bang for the buck/pound/yen is the Naniwa Superstone 12K. There are others that are good, but for the money you can't beat the Nani 12K.
I agree that the Zulu Grey is a nice stone and I have had a couple in my hands now & they seem to be consistent...but they do act a bit different in the hand while honing...every Nani 12K I have had in my hands has been the same. See a trend here? Yep, my recommendation for your hard earned money is the Naniwa 12K as you cannot go wrong with it.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

The 12k may be a bit over your price but I think waiting until you can afford the right hone is cheaper in the long run - this site is the cheapest I have found in the UK... Naniwa Super Stone 12000 (12K), 20 mm on base | EdenWebshops.co.uk
Straight razor shaving is like motorcycling both require full attention and continuos learning and honing of skills...
