Thanked: 0Toishi Ohishi
Excellent stones. I have the 600, 1000, 3000, and 6000. I use an Imanishi 10k, not the Toishi Ohishi 10k so I can't comment there but I hear they might be the same stone. If you're making the right amount of passes on the lower grit stones, you'll have to take fewer passes and use less pressure on the 10k. The 10k isn't meant to be used with any pressure, most of the scratches should have been removed by the lower grit stones. Try more passes on the 6000 and lighten the pressure on the last 10 passes. Then just use the weight of the razor on the 10k. Too much pressure may actually reduce the sharpness.
Almost forgot, lap the stones before 1st use. Almost all whetstones/waterstones I have used need an initial lapping to flatten and to also remove the outer layer of binder. I use a DMT Duo-sharp with good results.Last edited by feds27; 01-11-2014 at 02:16 AM. Reason: Added info.
