Size: 30.1 KBWhoa, long time no post. A few months ago my gal and I were in the antique store, and shoved on a shelf with some books was a very beat up strop and a hone.
It was priced at $6, and in good shape. I walked away for a second to chat with a buddy that came into the store went back to grab the hone and it was gone. Good news my gal picked up as a christmas gift. So I decided to try it out today on my dovo. I went usual progression on my norton 4k/8k then my shapton 1600 with 4 strokes on this to finish. I am about to shave and try it out. The dark spots are a little bit of water that hasn't dried yet.

Congrats with the hone. Your girl didn't put much time or money in your christmas present

I have the same hone, Bondpunk. In about the same condition. FrameBack good to know it's decent.
Bondpunk did you lap it? I've never really took the time to lap any of mine they always seem pretty flat, but that's just eye balling it.

    Why this obsession with lapping?

No obsession with lapping and especially a barber hone. If you hone, you keep your stones flat. I would think that it would apply to a barber hone also. Really I was just asking a question, mainly because I have the same barber hone and was curious if he had. I've tried lapping mine and I can tell you it looks flat but it isn't.

Yes, I lapped it. All of my hones looked flat when I got them. My shapton was the only one that actually was.
