Thanked: 3228Sometimes DMT 325s have high diamonds that need knocking down to stop them from scratching the honing stones. Just search the forum under "DMT 325 scratching" and you should find the cure.

I think its a high spot as opposed to a rogue diamond.
I didnt realise it had created a rough patch in the middle of my Shapton 30k. I could feel it when honing but as im a bit of a novice i was ignorning it.
I did try to sharpen a knife on it but that didnt do anything.
Tonight im gonna try the screwdriver technique.
You live n learn

Thanked: 522Sounds like you are headed towards an Atoma 1200 grit plate. Very consistent diamond distribution throughout the surface of the plate. I have two Atomas and never used a screwdriver yet..............

Tonight i took a large screw driver, soaked my DMT plate added a bit of washing up liquid to the mix and started dragging the shank of the screw driver up n down the DMT plate.
It worked a treat.
I've re lapped all my Shaptons and my Jnat and there are no scratches.
Thanks alot folks

Thanked: 3215Check the edges of a new diamond plate with your thumb, lightly bevel the edges with another diamond plate, a silicon carbide stone or a file.
