Haha, don't get too excited yet - not sure how well it will work until I give it a little more in-depth testing. I have lugged a few of the stones home though; if they work good I may send a couple out for people to try passing around and testing too.

OK, check this ish out! Tried slurry on water and plain water and it cuts at a fairly decent speed on the slurry for the fineness of the stone, but doesn't finish at its best on water. So I tried switching to oil and holy moly!

This thing puts on a sweet finish with the same method as my black translucent Arkansas, except it's an even better finish (and only lapped with an Atoma 400! no crazy steel rub-a-thon necessary) and seems to cut even faster also. Honed up a razor tonight but won't have enough growth to shave until tomorrow as I just shaved last night. The stone reminds me a lot of the black trans Ark as far as feel and finishing procedure. I am really happy with this thing so far! Now just got to see how it shaves.

Was that made in Nigeria? There is no black translucent ark. Is that a Dewalt?

Uh, there sure is such a thing as a black translucent. Mine is black (dark grey - they call it black) and will pass light for a bit of distance - not through the stone but around 1/4" or so. And yes that is a mirror image of a DeWalt.

You can BUY one from Natural Whetstone. And I know there are pics of at least one in the Ark thread. Dude. Also:

I will take a picture of mine when I can. Its a small stone but a most excellent finisher. They definitely do exist. Now the light might not transmit all the way through like a white translucent but it will go through a 1/4 to 1/2 inch through. It feels very different from a regular translucent and a regular black stone does. More dense I would say. much more dense.

Edit: Here we go. So as you can see, the light doesn't go though all the way and real not even that much but that is a 1 in thick stone.
