    Can you start honing on a 1k some then jump immediately to an 8k ? I have a feeling you can with more effort but i may be wrong if some one knows please let me know

    Sounds like you've got your heart set on that Ebay 1/8 k you asked about earlier,,, well buy it & use the information that's available to you here, to hone your razors. Just let us know if it leads to a satisfying shave.

    going from a 1k to a swaty (slightly finer than 8k, and fast cutting) with cerium oxide slurry lead to a satisfying shave.. not sure how necessary the CeOx was, or if the swaty alone would have done the job as well or as quickly.. im pretty sure you could go from a 1k to an 8k with satisfactory results, a 4k just makes it faster.. you can shave off a 1k edge, just not comfortably.. my thought is that even if you dont polish out all of the 1k scratches the 8k can polish/remove the peaks of the 1k striations, leaving a comfortable edge.. let us know how it goes with the 1k/8k..
