Cheers Vasilis, seems some smarter people than me take the ratings with a large grain of salt, AJ did say they were just his opinion. The Nortons do their job to 8K so these are just to finish after that. I have read all the articles on SRP trying to get a read on where they fit in to the Nortons, at the end of the day it will just be experimentation after 8K to see I suppose.

I'm sorry, no offense about my above post, to you or anyone else. But, grit ratings on naturals, is a shady business. Most of the particles of natural stones are bigger than 3 micron; that means, Norton 8k is finer than them, including Jnats, Thuringians, coticulae, and pretty much every stone around. There are naturals that can completely shatter our image of the scale with otherworldly performance, but someone who sells natural stones can't say, "my stone is 15k", there is a strict definition of grit and micron rating, and science is science. And most importantly, one good stone from the bunch doesn't guarantee that the rest of them are legendary stones.
Generally, slate stones do not belong in the "finisher grade" razor stones. But that doesn't mean there are no finishing grade slates.
Aside from that, it's marketing tricks, don't expect to buy a "15k stone" for 30GBP and to get a stone better than a vintage Thuringian.
In a strange sense (as it doesn't work exactly like most markets), what you get, is what you pay for.

No offense taken Vasilis, like everything Caveat emptor, after extensive research on SRP AJ seems to have a few followers. At the end of the day I have only spent $60 AUD on some small stones to see what they are like and to take the first dip into naturals. For my fancy schmansy edges I go see OZ.....
