I saw the unusual shape, dimensions (9 3/8L x 1 1/2W), and the mention of a barber's estate in the description, so I figured I'd roll the dice. See if you can guess what it is in the before pictures:

It was considerably dished out on the right side (when holding the handle) so I assume the barber was a righty and used this stone often. unfortunately I had to remove quite a few years to get it completely flat, but I still have a 1/4" on the right side and 5/16 on the left which is protruding above the handle.

    Flip it?

I has my suspicions wrt the origin of that species of rock, but i'll keep it to myself. I could be off my rocker.

After just a little lapping with some sandpaper on the back of a DMT, it quickly revealed what was underneath the dirt and oil... can't say that I wasn't ecstatic.

None of the lines or splotches affect the surface... it's all silky and smooth. After a complete lapping with a DMT:

Closeup of the far end dry:

Closeup of the handle end dry, you can see the variance in pink and yellow:

    and the whole thing wet:

I know that naming veins can be difficult without actually having bought directly from the mine... but any ideas on what type this may be?

*Edit, this is my fourth coticule and different than my other three which are all speckled and without the black lines.

It's a lovely coticule. That's all you need to know.
