Thanked: 4827another mystery hone thread
I don't know what this hone is. I think it looks a lot like the special hone for good razors only. I bought it as a black thurigian but it looks nothing like any of my Eschers. It is very smooth to hone with and leaves a great edge. I have no idea if the pictures will be big enough. I had a really hard time uploading themIt's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Does seem to have a brownish tint on my screen so it might be a French hone. Like Forrest Gump's box of choclates, with a natural you never know what you're going to get. Just have to try it and see.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4827dry it is fairly grey, but wet it is quite brown. I like it a lot so it isn't going anywhere. My Eschers however might find a trip to the curb.

Thanked: 4827It is quite hard. The sides show no real pattern that would indicate tooth marks. The final picture is a good color likeness of the slurry. Mostly light grey with a hint of brown.

Easy answer; it's a Mongolian PHIG, they are slightly browner in color than a standard Guangxi PHIG.
They are actually quite rare.

@rezdog:
As you already know the ones i posted at R&S in the special stone thread / the finest hone thread....
Any glittering particles in it, reflecting in the sunlight ? If so it might be a La Lune/special stone...
Other way around it seems these are not to be typically identified, as i have many different replies on my pictures/videos....
@hirlau
Any preferences examples in pictures of the "Mongolian PHIG" to compare ?███▓▒░░.RAZORLOVESTONES.░░▒▓███

Thanked: 4827The stone is very heavy with very tiny glittering particles. It looks just like your stone actually. Your stone is what made me think that this might be the La Lune/ special stone. I was actually hoping that my thought might be agreed to and that I could have more than just my personal opinion. I did also post at the R & S in your thread. I wasn't sure where I would get a response from those more knowledgable than I. The video pretty much synched it in my mind. My wife thought I had lost my mind. I had my magnifying visor on and was looking at my hone while spraying it with water while watching the video. Hirlau thinks everything is some sort of PHIG.

Thanked: 4827Mine is a great hone. The first time I used it I was ready to abandon my Eschers. I like it a lot. It is definitely a keeper. Glad to have it identified.
