I recently bought an Amakusa 600 stone, allegedly for bevel setting. Anyone have experience with this stone?

    Any suggestions?

Mine is a very slow stone and in this thinking not the best/fastest for bevel setting, as far as i understand from other threads they can act different...

Mine was extremely hard, and much finer than the <1000 grit stone I've had in mind when bought it. It wasn't slow, but it wasn't user friendly at all. It was one of my first stones.
Some people like them, but be careful of their inclusions if they have any.
Those stones too have variations, test it and see for yourself.

Try some dia plate slurry or botan nagura if you have. Some of these low grits dislodge particles easily so make sure you are aware of that.

In general, coarse Jnats are slower than synthetics. You can only try it & see how it works for you.

This a natural, how was the grit rating determined?
In my experience with different Amakusa, they produce ~1k scratch pattern

That is how it is advertised on some sites.

Here is one site rating the stone at 600 to 800 grit for example.

Jerry . No offence but looking at the Su (holes) in the side of that stone, I think it will be a quite frustrating to use on razors .
