Naniwa Snow white 8K
Well here goes with a little feedback after two weeks of use honing more than 20 razors including some of my own, my progression involves the Chosera 1K Chosera 5K Snow White 8 K Naniwa Super Stone 12 K, the Snow white as already become my all time favourite, I absolutely love the way this stone performs you certainly have to tweak your technique when you first start using the stone as it's the most incredible fast cutting stone I've used you need very little pressure it puts a beautiful polish on edge and picks up little or no metal even though you see the swarf building up quickly, If I could buy this stone from 1K 3K 8K 12k progression I would pull the trigger in a second, why you don't see this stone used much by Homemiesters baffles me I would give this stone a rating of 10/10.

This is good to hear. At some point I will replace my Norton 4/8 in favor of individual stones. I am not in a hurry to do so just yet since my 4/8 is in fine working order and its my 1k that I have targeted for replacement first.

The Naniwa 8K is my favorite stone in this range, but as far as I can tell it's Naniwa's only stone based on that particular recipe.
If you like the feel of the SW, Suehiro has some very similar offerings: I have the "Rika" at 5K and the "Shiramina" at 6K (this one goes by the mellifluous name "Steelex D1070" on Amazon). There's a 3K "Kouga" but I haven't actually used one. Going lower, it looks like you have to switch to their Cerax line, like the 1K. So a white alundum progression could work: 1,3,5,8 (or 1,3,6,8) and off to whatever finisher you like.
Lately, I've been playing with the Suehiro G8 (yes, I went a little nuts in the Suehiro section at toolsfromjapan), a green corundum stone that feels like a white alundum, but is turning out to be a surprisingly good polisher.

I'm still scratching my head in amazement how can a 8K stone can cut so fast but yet polish an edge so good, I'm thinking Japanese witchcraft.

Thanked: 3795In the other thread you started about this hone, Birnando stated his opinion that he thought it was too hard for razors. (I have no opinion of my own as I have never used one.)
