    Default Possible Treasure/Need help identifying

I bought this stone and the guy had said it came from an estate sale. It was in a sale with a lot of stuff from what appeared to be a forge (anvil and misc. tools). The first picture is out of the wooden holder so you can see it how I received it. Dirty. The next picture is after lapping it and removing the dirt on the good side. The next is a little of the slurry. It is 2 inches wide and one inch thick, 8 inches overall length.

Not sure Joseph, can you shoot a pic of the side ? Sometimes the sides/ends tell quite a bit. Looks cool though whatever it is.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Why is it I never come across estate sales with anvils and smithing tools??

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

That's it!! I am going to start hitting the estate sale circuit!

Have you rubbed a blade over it yet?? Any guess as to where in the progression it would fit? Is it hard??

Rocks are fun lol - congrats!

I'll try to take some more pics later today hopefully in the sun. What should I use to clean the rest. Can I use a mild detergent or just some hot water and a brush

No sunshine today but I hope these pictures will help. Haven't tried a blade yet. It's smooth but feels like it has some bite to it. Might be in the 4k range. I'll try some test later on tonight with a blade.

Here's how it came. The wooden box had the point of four nails just protruding from the base so when you set it down it would have some kind of grip and not slide around. Pretty cool. It smells musty like and old barn or basement. Smells old I guess lol.

I found a thread and there is a stone that appears similar. Not sure how to imbed a thread but search for Seneca stone and tell me what you think.
