    I would go to R&S. They specifically specialize in stones.... and the knowledge would percolate over here eventually in any case.
    The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

    @Sticky,

    I just re-read you post and I'm encouraged. My apologies for not reading it correctly the first time. I believe this deserved a post of its own.

    UPDATE- I think I misinterpreted your post and that your hone was like the others, not mine.
    UPDATE to the UPDATE-Sticky's Apart DOES look mine.

    @MattCB,

    I will probably do so.

    I've been corrected.

    To Be Clear::::Sticky has a very similar looking Apart stone.

    Simon never heard of doing so, but i also wouldnt do, there are a lot of coarser fast cutting baber hones around which could be used as "bevel set" or after the bevel set...
    What would you use as a slurry, from the BH?

    I'm confused. Sticky's hone has the logo imprint. Siguy's does not. How can the hones look the same?

    I've used and have a few Apart hones. I have never set a bevel with one but I have done so with a three line Swaty and assume it will work in the same manner. You can do it relatively quickly with a lot of pressure. There is not need for slurry to go from bevel set to finish--just lighten the pressure as you progress.

    I'll try a bevel set with an Apart and let you know.

    I think Sticky was showing me an example of how his box differed from mine.

    @doorsch & Utopian,

    I was thinking about the "One Stone Hone" experiment conducted by Glen and Lynn a little while back. I'm confident it can be done. The only question would be if my skills are up to it or not.

    Glad I found this thread, I was wondering if anyone knew of another Apart hone that was unmarked.
    Mine is a 6" and a great hone, (needs a bit of lapping). Everybit as good as a high dollar Frictionite, even better that mine is 6".

    Thanks for the thread Siguy.Name: Apart 6in Barbers Hone (1) (Copy).jpg

    To further confuse things I came across a BH that looks just like an Apart, behaves just like an Apart,
    comes in a box with the same instructions (In German and English) but the hone and the box are both labeled "Capitol".

    Think thats nothing unusual, there were not too much companies making Barber Hones...so often there were re-branded hones with the same receipes and made by the same company....

    Often the packaging, wording and lettering looks the same....
