    Default Naniwa Combination Stones

After doing some research I feeling that the Naniwa Super Stones would be just right for me to hone my straight razor. Found a good deal on two Naniwa combo hones but not sure which one to pick one is a 1k/5k combo and the other is a 3k/8k combo. I was wondering which one of these combo hones do you guys feel would serve me best in the upkeep of my razor any suggestions?

Assuming no dramas requiring bevel set the 3/8k will do.

+1 on the 3/8. Then do a search for the JaNorton thread... ok here it is: The Famous/Infamous Norton 4/8 "JaNorton 2012". Keep in mind, they are not the same stone, but that thread is a goldmine of learning juice for such a stone.

    Cheers.

I have the 3/8K and can assure you it is a good hone and an easy progression. Make sure to check out Lynn's Honing with Naniwa video. Super helpful with lots of info thrown in. I find myself revisiting it from time to time. Ususally, sometime before a hone session. It serves to focus me on the task coming up and as a the beginning of therapy. Yes, honing is theraputic for me.

I have been going to YouTube and rewatching Lynn's honing videos they have been quite informative and for someone new too honing it's been like having Lynn giving personal lessons on honing a straight razor.
