    Default Slurry Stones

    Hi ,
I have a Shobudani Mizu Asaga Hone (which I love).
To make a slurry I have a Tomo Nagura , which I've butchered by trying to dissect it.
So I'm left with only one useful part really. (silly me)
I want to buy another slurry stone but some thing different.
Has any one got any recommendations?
I only use my jnat for final finishing by the way.
    Cheers ......

If your tomo is half an inch at least just use that. If not look around for one.

Tomo-naguras can be a bit finicky IME.

Contact someone like Maksim at japanesenaturalstones.com and tell him about your stone.
Chances are, he'll be able to find you one that works good with your finisher.
If I were you, I'd get a couple while I was at it.
They can all be used, and hopefully at least one of them will be the perfect match.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Hello, I have 2 shubos and find a softer kiita(not too soft) works very well with mine. I also use a synthetic ruby stone(9 on the mohs scale) to raise base stone slurry only that is finer than a dia plate can give you works very well. You can use a hard ozuku asagi also as it will do the same thing, just round a corner and use that to raise base stone slurry. Nice and easy so as not to put deep scratches in the stone. The ruby stone I have is old and I didnt buy it, it was given to me. They are for sale from China for $20 or so. Mine works well, whether the quality is the same I couldnt tell you. It is sintered which means it has no binder.
