ID This Barber Hone?
Picked this up at an antique store. There is no identification anywhere on the box or hone. Not even sure if it is the original box, seems slightly too large. Any ID on the manufacturer?
Any idea of the grit rating?

Thanked: 4826Without the name trying to track down any information is tough. There were several manufactures but it starts to get complicated by the fact that all the makers were also branding them for all kinds of different hardware chains and barber supply companies. I think at this point your best guess after finishing or touching up a razor on it will be s close as it gets. They ran from 6K up into the mid teens. Try it and see what it can do.
P.S.
They are fast cutters so only do about 6 strokes to start with and then check it and repeat as needed. You may want to start with a razor hone at the 4K level and then see how it progresses. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Would agree that is probably not the correct box. Can you make out any of the letters? Seem to see "W" in the front... but not sure.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
