Didn’t had much knowledge on the coti layers at this time, so I asked the buyer but didn’t get any information.

Back at home I searched in the forums for information on that special layer but did not found anything. Finally after some weeks of searching and asking I saw in the vaults at coticue.be a comparable coticule and found out, that this extraordinary appearance with green hue and brown spots is very typical and belongs to the La Verte layer.

When I visited Ardennes coticule in springtime this year, Maurice’s daughter Anne-Katrien guided me at an excursion to the Ol’ Preu mine.
I found this little piece of rock laying around there and was suddenly remembered on the coticule I bought years ago.

Anne-Katrien came to me and said “…. well this green color with the brown spots is very typical for the La Verte layer”. “I know” I said “I have seen this somewhere before ….”.
