Thread: Lessons with VoidMonster

Today I was fortunate enough to get some honing lessons with Zak and man it was a great time.

After introducing ourselves we started with my hones that needed to be lapped. That took about an hour or so with in between breaks for me to admire his workshop as well as LOTS of beautiful razors that I couldn't get over looking at. I soaked up lots of knowledge on the way that would have took me years to learn without his help. I watched him polish some blades, looked at some manufacturing that he does and correct a blade with some chips in it. Then looked at his razors some more...lol.

We started honing with a Gotta and an old Boker I had been saving for this occasion. While I was honing and he was watching me he also honed a little mustache razor that someone had given me. I got to spend a good deal of time with him hands on at the helm. After that we went to the strop and he helped me out with some pressure issues I was having. That is the short story. It was an amazing time and I can't thank him enough and 10pups for giving me the lead on him. Honing for me was very intimidating and while I have lots to learn I feel like Zak got me going in the correct direction. I am certainly not scared to try my hand at it from here on out. I spent around 4 hours with him and he made me feel right at home.

I also bothered him him about selling me a razor and I think I succeeded...lol. Thank you Zak.
