Carl Bracher had a whetstone company (mainly a whetstone cutting service -don't know if the company rented thuringian quarries) at the beginning 20th century in Sonneberg/ Thuringia. Here is a promotion sheet from 1910:
In the 1930's there was a company Otto Brächer, also in Sonneberg. He rented some of the old thuringian mines between 1930 and the beginning of WW2.
Haven't found out so far if this was the same company (same family name Bracher/ Brächer - maybe the son?) or a total different one.

Unusual thuringian
Thats what i could re-construate till now, as mentioned by Peter its quite difficult to get the whole stuff together. The source of this Information was taken out here:
Thüringisches Hauptstaatsarchiv Weimar, Thüringisches Finanzministerium Nr. 6248, Bl. 15r, this is a copy of a lease contract from Bösenberg, Trinks & Co. Sonneberg
the letterhead shows the following information:
8th August 1923:
Deutsche Schleifmittelwerke (DSW)
Bösenberg, Trinks & Co., Sonneberg S.M.
Vormals Escher & Co. und Pike & Escher
To this time the managers were the follwing:
J.A. Pulvermann, Hamburg
E.F.M. Pulvermann, Hamburg
E.A. Louis Trinks, Sonneberg
W.R.J. Bösenberg, Hamburg
Eduard Pulvermann was also a member of the Boards of Pike & Escher.
Eduard Pulvermann – Wikipedia
https://books.google.de/books?id=JG7...ermann&f=false
https://books.google.de/books?id=6Av...escher&f=false
He died on the 9th April of the year 1944, as a result of his arrest in a german concentration camp.
31th. July 1924:
Schleifmittel Aktiengesellschaft (SAG), Hamburg und Sonneberg in Thüringen
Named before:
Escher & Co., Sonneberg, Pike Abrasive Co., Pike & Escher G.m.b.H., Hamburg
J. P. Wohlert, H.H. Rieschmeyer & Co. Hamburg, Bösenberg, Trinks & Co. Sonneberg
so The Schleifmittel Aktiengesellschaft had a subsidiary in Hamburg, due the letterhead they also had a storage location directly on the harbour of Hamburg. so this might explain the founding of a company directly in Hamburg. Because for the US export market it made sense to be directly on the harbour.
Escher & Co. had a subsidiary there before in No. 148 Duane - Street, New York.Last edited by doorsch; 06-07-2015 at 12:46 PM.

Thanked: 18Finally. There is one Escher on Ebay, with box and sticker on the stone it is a Escher Light Green. The dimensions are 6x2 1/2 same like my stone, and also have slurry stone. So it is a Escher Brand.
