I love testing stones at them, especially J-nats, PHIGs and Coticules as they seem to have the greatest variations between them, you can really get the opportunity to try many stones right next to each other and it doesn't cost you a small fortune
The reason I have often brought a near back-breaking quantity of hones to several meet-ups is for EXACTLY that reason. I want people to have a chance to play with and compare everything. You can hold a single razor and run it down 20 or 30 coticules and you WILL notice differences! I've brought coticules and Japanese hones and barber hones and bevel setters and encouraged people to try them and honestly it rarely has happened.

    Ron,
Sometimes you actually will see people shy away from anything that might not fit their preconceived views, and they don't want to engage in it..
It is not nearly as prevalent in this hobby as I have seen in Martial Arts or the Shooting sports

Well it has convinced me to pare down the number of hones I have brought to the last few meet-ups. Randy is getting better gas mileage that way!
