Thanked: 2Zulu Grey vs Arkie
My HADD is flaring up. Which makes a better finisher a zulu grey or either a surgical black or translucent Arkansas stone?

Any person who has the honing skill necessary to take either stone to it's potential; would find out that all three can deliver as a finisher.
IMO, too many factors are at play to make a blanket statement, in a thread, as to which is the best finisher.

+1...Couldn't agree more! "BETTER" is a way too subjective word when it comes to finishers as a blanket concept. I've tried all three, and they all will deliver a very nice polished and shave ready edge. The one thing they all have in common ( these three examples of finishers) is that they require a high number of laps to get the most out of them.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Not sure about the zulu but arkies performance are dependant on the degree to which they are lapped.
I've heard a properly surfaced black or trans is quite the amazing finisher.

Thanked: 458If you like honing with water, pick the Zulu. If you like honing with oil, pick the Ark. I like the arks better, but that's just an opinion.

Thanked: 2Ok, I've about changed my mind on the zg. Now I'm thinking either Arkansas or Apache.
