    I don't think so. I have never been able to see a wire edge produced this way. I have seen edge degradation as the edge has gotten thin and chippy but I have never been able to produce a wire edge in this manner.

    Usually if I am trying to repair a ding, I start with back honing to try to re-align the ding before commencing regular honing.

    I dinged one of my Palmeras a couple mos ago,was microscopic,had no effect on the shave whatsoever.
    It still botherd me tho,sent it to a pro,just needed a new bevel set and polish,cheap, do not need the grief of doing it myself

    I looked at the edge every 10 strokes, and didn't notice a wire edge. The shave today was very comfortable. Way better than before.

    @Utopian what is back honing?
