Thanked: 1Curious about this one.
Evening all,
Just curious if anyone would be able to tell me what this hone is? I received it a while back from my step-dad and has been sitting about for a while here at the house. I noticed that it looks similar to a few I have seen in some of the videos about the site. Its a dark brown on one side and grey on the other, having a name / brand that appears to read Ahconite on one side.
Here is a picture of the brown side and the brand / name. Would be curious to know if would be usable to hone a razor after I gain a good bit more experience.

It looks like a barber's hone. Have you tried searching eBay for a Ahconite Razor Hone?

Thanked: 1Thank you all, looks like I have at least one for the collection. I had looked around a bit but I would venture to say the search terms were not what was needed. Appreciate the info everyone, will be something to hang onto.

To answer your question, "Yes, it could be used to "touch up" your razors from time to time,, the chipped edges would need a little work, but it appears O.K.,,, generally.

And you get a lucky score.. they said lapping either side was tough and time consuming due to the density and fine grit... like medium and fine I think it said
