This is why we suggest a second razor. If everything goes well you could go 6 months. If your stropping is less than fine it could be as little as 2 months. A refresh can sneak up on you also. I have a lot of razors but mostly stick to a seven day set. I noticed some redness in my face after some shaves and I took them all to the shop to have a look under a loupe. I was a little shocked at what I saw and refreshed them all. I didn't feel the real difference until I did.
Is there an answer to your question ? Not really you see.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

The other thing to concern yourself with is that, assuming you are new to this, is your shaving technique and stropping technique. I have only been at this a very short while but have found that stropping is the most important thing to keeping a shave ready edge ready, problem is us newbs are the shits when it comes to stropping, at least I was. I found ways to roll my edge far faster than how to maintain and not damage my shave ready razors. My biggest problem has been turning my edge into the the strop at the end of the stroke. It was so slight I didn't realize I was doing it but it sure was evident when I shaved.

The other thing that seems to dull my edge super fast is too obtuse of an angle, i.e. spine too far from face, and too much pressure. Funny thing about pressure with a straight is that the lighter it is the closer the shave and the longer your edge lasts.

Oh and if one is good two is better, right?
