Naniwa Chosera 3000
I'm thinking about buying a Chosera 3k. At the moment I use the Chosera 1k and then the Shapton 4k.
Is the Chosera 3k a good substitute for the Shapton 4K ?
I much prefer the Chosera 1k to the Shapton 1K and it fits nicely on my Shapton stone holder. Also I've noticed that my Shapton 4k/8k are getting a little thin..
They are pricey but you get a lot of stone for your money.. and its pink, yay

You can get a Naniwa 3K-8K combo stone to augment/replace the Shapton 4-8K.
Than ≠ Then

Thanked: 2591My 3k Chosera would auto slurry, I switched to 3k Super Stone and like the results better.

Thanked: 13249I use the Chosera 1-5-10 everyday
I would not recommend it simply because it is very expensive, and requires a finisher after so it isn't even a complete setup
the Chosera/Professional will cut faster and smoother then most any 4k out there, I found no use for the 3k and Stefan is the second person that I heard mention the Auto-slurry issue with it..
It won't do anything "better" then many of the other 3-4-5 k hones out there, but it is faster, so if money is no object and a slight gain in speed is your goal then by all means buy oneLast edited by gssixgun; 04-13-2015 at 03:04 PM.

I wouldn't saythat is something you have to figure out based on your individuality
Honest not a cop out hehehe
The real difference I have found with the Chosera et al is the depth of the striations seems to be much shallower so that old statement of "Hone until the last hone's marks disappear" which I honestly don't like, happens much quicker

Apparently Naniwa has stopped producing the Chosera stones and now produce the Professional series in its place.
Should I seek out the old Chosera or go for the new pro stones? The depth is 20mm //Chosera is 25mm

Thanked: 459The cho 3k is a fast cutting 4 micron stone. If you have a shapton 4k, it really shouldn't be much different.
I had one for a while, but it didn't autoslurry, especially if not soaked. It was an entirely different stone (choseras in general) when soaked than when just splashed.
It's really hard to be excited about any middle stone, they don't cut fast and they don't cut fine. They're like a non-flashy basketball player that gets more assists than points and rebounds, a good role player but not very exciting on their own.
