    You missed the point of my post. You most likely won't get the best edges you can if you go from a 4k stone to a properly prepped finishing Ark. It will also take about a million laps. I usually go to at least 8k first. And you won't need any pasted strop afterward if you use an Ark correctly.

    Understood now. Thank you for your patience. Than what before Arkansas? Coticule - as Mastro Livi? Or Naniwa Snow White - as most recommend? Or Suehiro Gokumyo 10000?

    I'd use the coti before the ark. The ark needs an edge in good shape, and the nani snow white is an aggressive stone, so you have less chance of microchipping issues with the coti. 95% of the time it will make no difference, though.
