Default New Hone or New Razor?

I guess i'm looking for pros and cons of both. My dilemma at the moment is whether to buy a Naniwa 12k for £67 or buy a Dovo Best quality 6/8" razor for £74 ??

Get the hone and vastly improve my old vintage blade….or splash the dough on a new shaver ?

Do you already have hones or will this be your first.

I've got enough to get me up to 8k then chrox paddle and stropping but i still get a certain amount of pulling which seems to be not enough polishing or at least the chrox is struggling to polish out the 8k scratch.

Try eBay international for a naniwa from Japan for less

If you have pulling off an 8k hone's shave, then a higher grit hone or paste likely is not going to solve it. More time on a lower grit hone is a more likely solution.

Ok thanks, I'll try that before i part with any money. I'm also guessing that the Dovo may not be shave ready anyway.

As Utopian says. Get to grips with the tools you have before you start to experiment with new tools.

Yup, make sure your bevel is really set before going up the progression to 8k. With the hones you already have plus the Crox you should have no pulling.

Good advice. i have spent quite some time on 4k then 8k and the edge looks keen thru a loupe but can't seem to polish it any further.
keep on trying i guess. Thanks
