Just bought this.
Hello from Norway. I am newbie in wet shaving, and this is my first post on the forum. I find honing as a fun part of my new "addiction", and I am fairly happy with my results so far. Today I bought a natural stone from a Norwegian website, and am in need of some help with the identification. Box labeled 1936. The stone measures 13x4 cm. Took a $10 gamble on a thuri?

It does look like a vintage stone, and although I can't clearly read what the label says, on the bottom is written something about water. Possibly the "use with water only" or something with the same meaning that all labeled Thuringians have.

Thanks for help in identifying the hone. It will arrive early next week. Hopefully I've got myself a nice prefinisher.

Yeah thuris are high grade and fine finishers. They are not good for prefinish work or removing deep scratches, too slow cutting and very fine grained.

Yep, I think I've got myself a new finisher. The hone arrived today, lapped really fast (less than 15 mins) on 600 sandpaper. Honed a Black Diamond from 6k King to shave ready. Creamy white slurry. Approx 30 laps slurry to water, then 30 laps water only. Guess I overhoned a bit, got some more microchipping than I normally do from finishing on cnat. Anyway, the razor gave a very nice smooth and close shave. This is another hone-league than what I am used to (MST and cnat). This hone is much faster and has a much wider range. And as an extra personal newbie bonus to the experience, this is the first time I have felt that a hone has some kind of personality (is that a sign of premorbid HAD?). Here are some more pics of the hone, taken today. Maybe those would help in further identfying the hone? Thanks.
