Default First SRD purchase and Hones

I finally did it. I decided to jump in with both feet in to the straight razor world and since I am learning, literally baby steps, in taking care of my straights, I decided to start off with a hone to keep an edge.
I purchased everything from SRD because I cannot tell you how much help watching Lynn's videos has been and I want to support him. I ordered a:

    Naniwa 12K Superstone
    Naniwa Lapping Stone
    Stone holder

I cannot wait til this arrive. They hardly cost me anything as I had a gift card from my county for participating in a Health and Wellness fair, so that made it even better! (And the wife happier)

My daughter couldn't understand why the stone was "so expensive" until I explain to her that she may well be handing these items off to her kids some day! That's when she got it!

Congratulations TheFive0: We looking forward to hearing and seeing the results from your new passion.

Another helpful item is a Lighted Loupe from Ebay. They cost around six dollars including shipping. Once you can see your edges under magnification setting bevels an finding flaws in your edges becomes much easier.

Congrats on your start. Considering what you told your daughter, how many other things can you say that you could also pass only to her? Probably not many of much use.

Exactly. I will admit that I am both a straight and DE user. Many of my DE's date from the 40's with some newer ones mixed in too. Even though they are new, they are steel and will last far longer than me. In this disposable world we live in now, it's nice to have something that can actually be a legacy.
