I often make experiments with field subjects - find stones . I aways lapp on a ceramic tale or piece of glass with a 180 SIC powder .
Easy and fast , the Diamond plates are for finer laping and for refreshing . I buy a Dia flat to make a slurry on the stones as the cheaper diamond plates aways loose some small diamonds and scratch the edge . I dont care if the razor is scratch but the loose diamonds chip the edge and thats a problem as it reflects on the shaving .
Forget abbout 300 bucs diamond laping plates sic powder on a glass surface is a profesional way to lapp something .
A heavy dutty laping .
