Cheapest stone in the bunch does the best work (figuring that you can get a prime piece of dan's black or trans in 8x2 and a half inch thick for about $70).
Agree with the above, the pictures show what comes back to the camera in light, and sometimes they don't tell the same story as the shave.

Thanked: 66Everybody seems to like the black translucent Arkansas stones, I just received a 6*2 one, I started to flatten it out and it's hard as the light translucent I hope it performance is the same because I paid only 30$ for it. I very excited to try it and see the results.
As for the toothy edge, proper stropping can reduce it harshness.
