No-name Swaty shout out -KISS
I have a slough of great stones. Naturals to Shapton glass and I love the edges that I get off them.
Yesterday I dragged out my (no telling how old) no-name Swaty for a touch up rather than going downstairs and dragging out the honing box and going through the progression. A little lather, a few circles followed by a few back-forth laps, finished on linen and leather and the INOX Dovo was back to one pass BBS shaving.
Some times I think that we just make it too difficult

I developed a mild honing disorder this year. It included popping $9.95 for a near-pristine Swaty three-line. Like a you, a little lather, some linen and leather - presto-sharpo.
Kind of a modest miracle for something half the size of my hand and half the price of a movie ticket and some popcorn."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."

I have to try this. I have a 3 line Swaty I keep in my bathroom cabinet, but have never tried it.

Swaty clone/copy/knockoff. I had an original but sold it a while back when they had a surge of popularity. I kept this one since it looked, felt, and performed exactly the same.
For me, a true test of a stone is getting a super edge on a stainless blade. They seem to take 'just a little more something' to get to the same level of perfection as regular carbon steel. Once they take an edge, it does seem like they tend to keep it a little longer too.Last edited by kelbro; 06-19-2015 at 12:56 PM.
