    What razor are you getting?
    From your post it seems it will not be shave ready?
    In this case I advise to send it out for honing and learn to maintain it before you get into honing.

    Learning to hone and shave at the same time is a tough hill to climb. If you do one skill set at a time it will likely make the travel smother and quicker. Hands on learning at a meet is the way to go for learning the ropes.
