    Default German mystery hone

Hey. I just bought this hone on the bay. My friend Sebastian tells me it's the German mystery hone. He has one to.

It's a great hone. A kind of slate. It has a greenish looks with purple incursions and cupper-like pigments. The slurry is brownish.

It a super finisher, very high in the grit range.

Test shaving was great. Here's a couple of pictures :-)

    Any info is appreciated.

Yeah only the origin was germany...its comparable to the fine french hones....

However its the first example besides mine coming from Germany....

I rated it above 12k up to 15k, it leaves a mirror finish and is best used with water and glycerine...

Here are the pics, both look really to be the same material...great that another one got an example of those stones...

Slurry looks reddish when created on the areas with the red inclusions, if mixed up more brownish...

Some more details...the dark spots are interesting, they appear all over the stone...also the sizes have some big variances...they reach from 0,3-0,5mm somtimes they are around 1,5mm...

Thats a cross cut thru the stone from the area where i parted a slurry stone....
