We have all done something like this. Does not make it any easier to swallow, I know. It could have been worse as it could have been a more expensive rock or(heaven forbid!) a nice razor. The older I get, the more my experiences sink in.
Not mistake-free yet.....Working on it!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 458BTDT, but luckily only broke pieces off of the end. There are countless old stones broken in half in their boxes, and that were used after breakage for quite some time given the wear around the cracks that I've seen. I'd glue that stone together and mount it on something and put it somewhere for non-razor use (though I wouldn't be surprised if you could still make it work for razors by working the razor 90 degrees to the crack with a heel-leading stroke, maybe even an X.
Pardon if someone mentioned that already.
I don't drop stones so often, but I seem to drop hand planes all the time. Like a couple of times a year, which can be a bummer!!
