    Just an update. As the stone was drying I saw a very slight amount of dishing and then it went back to flat.

    I'm very happy about how well this worked for me. I'm planning on doing the same thing to my 12k, though it was never near as much of a problem as the 8k.

    24 hours after honing there is a very slight dish, which would be expected as the hone wears. This stiffening removed 90% of the instability of the stone.
