Post Where to find Atoma and double sided Atoma's?

    Hey all!

I presently have the Atoma 400 which I use for a lapping stone... I was reading that the 400 is a little rough on the 5k whetstone and above that the 1200 is better... I purchased my Atoma 400 for $70 on Amazon but I see it other places for anywhere from $85-$150... Same goes for the Atoma 1200 so I was wondering about where the fairest priced Atoma 1200 could be found because I've only been finding it for $120 bucks which is over priced I think... Also on a side note I was reading that you can get replacement sheets which I was thinking could you possibly stick the replacement sheet on the other side? And ha e a double sided Atoma?

Wow, thanks for the idea! That for foil is way cheaper.... I could buy a little extra and make a slurry stone too

They sell the replacement for the plates. It is in with the atoma plates not the foil although it is still just a stick on sheet.

I just visited Tools from Japan and their prices are really good, I don't know how they do it. I recently bought a replacement #140 Atoma sheet from Hida Tool in Berkeley and it was easy to put onto the back of my #500 so now I have a great combo.
Atoma diamond plates. : Tools from Japan, Japanese woodworking tools direct from Japan.
