Hard to tell from those pics. To me they seem coarse hones that I would not expose my razors to.

Thanked: 16The light color one yes is slightly course however the dark color is very smooth and may be hard arkansas see addtl pics next to the labeled Norton arkansas. Same exact size..

Last one - it can be an arkansas due to type of chips.

Yes, the conchoidal fractures indicates a very hard and dense stone. Probably hard arkansas. Obsidian and translucent arkansas also chip the same way

Thanked: 16I have actually just done it again.. 1h 45m drive for 10 stones and a lot of tools which I left behind to owner who had sentimental value.. Could see the familiar markings of an SR. droescher box so took the ride. Was better than expected as there was a coti I didn't see some carborundum and 4 razor hones pretty basic

I'm looking forward to the pics.
It's good to hear of someone having some success. Friday I went looking for homes at antique stores. Passed on an overpriced oil home and a couple of beat up barber hones. I bought a grungy Swaty for real cheap, but it turned out pretty bad when cleaned off.

Yes, interesting bunch. The box in the cigar box looks very promising.
