Thanked: 66Very Unique Looking JNat, an expert opinion is appreciated
This is very unique looking JNat, it is black with golden nashiji, I bought it directly from Japan, the seller claims that it is a vintage stone from Narutaki mine, however no one know for sure as there is no stamps.
The stone is very dense it weighs 720g !!! pretty heavy for it size (5x3x1), however it is not very hard it is 4.5 or so, fast cutter with hazy finish auto slurry if enough pressure is used, the shave is like a coticule yet sharper but not as sharp as an Escher stone. I have few Narutaki stones, one is stamped and it has the same aroma only this one is more potent.
I Hope this help in finding more information about the stone, maybe Stefan, Alex or some of our JNats experts can tell us more about such stones.
Regards,

Nice stone !! Also had this one on the "Wishlist" and already had some good experiences with the seller....
Bought a Maruoyama Nashiji from the same seller...this is a very nice stone, quite hard, would rate it with 4.5 less hard then my Ohzukos...

Thanked: 66I'm sorry that I have beaten you on that one Sebastian, if I knew that you had your eyes on that one I would have send it to you to try it out along with the one I just sent. Yep the seller is very good guy, very nice stone you have there.
Now come on Sebastian this is the second time in two days I'm getting the feeling that no matter where is stones there will be you. If you are still interested in this stone i can send it for you to test it out, only to know what you are missing .
Have a nice day my friend

Nice looking Japanese natural, I once had an Iwasaki Select stone that was similar, the DIMS and color were close. Thanks for sharing.

It just looks like it was very very close to the zone where the two materials formed so it has that intimate mixture like you see. it's kind of like the quartz varieties amethyst and citrine. There are specimens where they are mixed together in the same piece.
